The Akarua vineyard is a unique site, measuring 52 hectares, 34.5 of which planted with vines. The estate is tucked into the foothills of the mountains rising above Kawarua River upstream of Lack Dunstan, in the midst of a breathtaking landscape. Located in Bannockburn in the Central Otago region, the vineyard occupies three west-facing terraces and enjoys intense sun all year round. This outstanding terroir lends remarkable character to the Pinot Noir in a reflection of the spectacular mountains surrounding the estate. Floral and spicy, it has a nose of raspberries and blackcurrant, while the pallet derives of black cherry.

Land that was once a high country sheep station is now a flourishing vineyard. Sheep and rabbits co-existed on the land for quite some time but the sheep couldn't keep up with the nocturnal activity of the rabbits, and in the end were driven off the land. Rabbits now run free on the vineyard and fuelled by high altitude Pinot Noir, some are reputed to be the size of ponies, but that's another story... The Rabbit Ranch Pinot Noir is made in a very soft, fruit forward, low tannin style - a wine to be savoured and supped, rather than an assault on the senses.

To create the Gold Label collection, Wolf Blass winemakers select the definitive varieties of the very best South Australian wine regions to produce progressive, elegant wines showcasing regional and varietal excellence. Crafted from premium vineyards in McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek, this wine opens with fragrant aromas of blackberries, blueberries, and ripe dark plums, layered with hints of anise spice and dark chocolate. The palate is plush and full-bodied yet elegantly balanced, delivering concentrated fruit, fine acidity, and silky tannins that lead to a long, mouth-watering finish.

Ruby red in colour, this wine has a bouquet of savoury red berry fruit, black cherry and vanilla that combine with aromas of black forest berries, cloves and dark violets, finishing with soft stony notes. Dry on the palate with a core of fruit, savoury tannins give it a great texture. The oak influence is obvious with baking spices, brown sugar and smokiness. Expect this wine to improve further with careful cellaring over the next 7-10 years.

Timeless techniques are used to make Gibbston Valley Gold River Wines. Hand-picked fruit is gently crafted into premium Central Otago Pinot Noir that offer immediate drinking pleasure. Batch fermented in small open-top tanks, it spends 6-9 months in 100% French Oak, the Gold River Pinot Noir offers exceptional quality and regionality at a good price.

Sourced from premium vineyards, Red Label wines are a testament to Wolf Blass' blending expertise. Red Label blends provide easy-drinking options offering fruit-driven flavours, soft, approachable palates and excellent value. Complex aromas of raisin and maple lead in to a rich, luscious palate of dried fruits, toasted nuts and hints of smooth chocolate. Extended barrel maturation in old oak provides soft, mellow flavours and classic aged fortified characters.

This is a rich full-bodied wine yet at the same time, remains in balanced across the palate with fine, elegant tannins – the hallmark of great Cabernet.

The luscious elegance of the Clare Valley fruit marries superbly with the slightly peppery fruit from McLaren Vale.
